Terubuk Fish Sarawak's uncomparable favorite and identical unique souvenir craze is the Salted Terubok (American Shad) Fish. Visitors would generally come back from Sarawak carrying salted terubok (nicely wrapped up in a package for more long-lasting preservation) for their friends and family.

One of the favorite fishes in Sarawak, terubok are fully of bones but tasteful nevertheless. The trick of the trade is to find out the biggest terubok fish because the bones are bigger and more at ease to cast out. Also available are the terubok eggs, and far more pricey. It might set you back more or less RM200 per kg or lower.

How to know its really Terubuk Fish:

I would like to share all reader of my knowledge about the terubuk fish in Kuching. There are not much people knows the reality kind of this fish. Many sellers just not take this terubuk as the important to tell the customer for the original terubuk.

Beside that all Malaysian people know that terubuk fish is a popular in Sarawak especially in Kuching. Many people in Kuching instead of Peninsular people likes to buy the terubuk.

Terubuk has a two type catergory. There are also having the non original terubuk . The original terubuk has a good taste than the non original. The non original terubuk can be call as 'simprik'. Simprik is a kind of species type of terubuk but it has not a good taste than the original.The size usually bigger than an original terubuk.

The original terubuk have a medium size than the non terubuk. So how could you to differentiate it to the original?

The original could have a strip with grey colour on it body shape but the non original could have a silver strip. So when you would like to buy the terubuk, ask the seller first whether it really the original one.
